What's New?

15th May 2025

I have begun the website redesign process. It will take quite some time to get everything shifted over so I'm going to be doing things bit-by-bit.

There were previously too many sections on the site, many of which were hardly ever updated. I have decided to organize everything into 7 sections.

Theses are as follows: What's New? About this Website, Ryukyu-Okinawa History and Culture, Document Archive, Internet Resources, Images and Glossary. The History and Culture section will start off as the largest section with content divided into several historical periods, tentatively as follows: Prehistoric Ryukyu, Ancient Ryukyu, Early-Modern Ryukyu, Modern Ryukyu-Okinawa, Postwar Okinawa and Contemporary Okinawa.

The Images and Glossary sections are new. I have some nice website templates for displaying photos and other images and will devise some system of organization for them. The Glossary will be alphabetical in organization. If you're looking for information on 'gusuku' then click on 'G.' There is nothing there at present so bear with me. I'm working on a way of highlighting all letters with content once added to save you wasting your time clicking on all letters. Over time, the Glossary section will keep increasing in content.

Belated best wishes to all of you for 2019 (Year of the Pig)!

All information about recent developments or changes on this site can be found on the adjunct Facebook page.

I still plan on uploading a whole stack of my research to this site. Yes, the HTML code is really, really old and probably looks awful on phones or pads.

I'm considering a transition to WordPress but am not convinced that it is a good fit for an information site.
